Paralegal II / III (Litigation)

This position primarily assists with all aspects of litigation and trial support including: collecting, managing, and organizing documents; responding to written discovery and subpoenas; contacting and interviewing witnesses; performing legal/general research and analysis, coordinating depositions and preparing trial notebooks; other responsibilities as assigned by the Law Department’s litigation attorneys.  This position is also frequently asked to coordinate independent special projects with minimum supervision.

Qualified candidates must have at least five years of experience in a law firm or corporate setting providing advanced paralegal support to attorneys handling complex litigation matters, including experience managing e-discovery issues and working with e-discovery systems.  A candidate with technological savvy and prior experience in migrating to new electronic discovery systems is valued.

This position requires a candidate who is detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, an excellent communicator and works extremely well in a team environment.  The successful candidate will be a person who acts with a high level of accountability, takes initiative to identify and recommend solutions, takes ownership for the success of the team, and acts with a high degree of professionalism and ethics.

 Bachelor's Degree is preferred, but we will also consider candidates with a Paralegal Certificate from an American Bar Association approved institution or certification as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal from the National Association of Legal Assistants. 

The candidate should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, an advanced understanding of and ability to use Microsoft Office suite, and enthusiasm to quickly learn how to utilize new computer applications.  Knowledge of Lexis/Nexis research system and other online research tools, and experience with CounselLink or other similar e-billing systems is preferred.
