The Neighborhood Development Specialist will be responsible for community development and program implementation and will assist in the administration of programs and with project management.  Additionally, the qualified candidate will work on strategic neighborhood redevelopment in targeted areas. Work will involve using effective communication and facilitation skills to build capacity, trust and strong working relationships with residents, neighborhood organizations, and other City department staff.
An ideal candidate will have neighborhood engagement, community development, community outreach and/or housing programming services experience.  The ideal candidate will also have strong skills in Microsoft Excel, math, and writing.  This position is intended for a candidate who is eager to learn project management, looking to move into a career in public administration and/or real estate development, or work in distressed neighborhoods.
A combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position.  Typically, candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business Administration, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or Real Estate or related field and three years of experience with federal grants, state housing tax credits, real estate development such as multifamily housing, project management, and/or community development or related field.  Master's degree is preferred.
