This position supports the GM Financial Human Resources department as it relates to system or application implementation and process improvement.  The Human Resources Information Systems Support Manager will work directly with human resource leaders and corporate business units to provide technical and functional support of HR information systems.  The person in this position will lead a team that drives various corporate and human resources initiatives from ideation to automation and will be responsible for business process improvement, data flow mapping, enterprise resource planning, and project management in order to maximize the use of all human resources systems.


  • Leads a team of HRIS Support Specialists and serves as primary technical lead and point of contact for HRIS functional support and solution delivery.
  • Collaborates with the IT organization, business process owners and functional subject matter experts to translate HR systems requirements into automated solutions.
  • Partners with AVP HRIS and IT leaders to develop and maintain the HRIS roadmap and strategy.  Determines a detailed roll out plan to ensure success.
  • Analyzes human resource processes and proposes improvements or replacement processes.
  • Consults with human resource department process owners to understand the business case for development requests, process improvements, interfaces (internal and external), or enhancements, evaluate/assess the request and work with appropriate IT resources to implement approved requirements.
  • Serves as liaison between the human resources department and IT business systems analysts to ensure understanding of HR objectives.
  • Partners with HRIS Analytics team to ensure reporting requirements for system upgrades and implementations are defined, tested, and implemented.
  • Partners with human resources project manager for system/application implementations and upgrades for the human resources department. This includes maintaining business requirements documentation, as well as data flow mapping, test plans, and testing documentation.
  • Ensures department process owners understand requirements of human resources team for system implementations/upgrades, including providing requirements and testing.
  • Participates in the development of, and advises management on, HR information technology strategy and technology deployment.  
  • Develops effective training and support mechanisms for HR system end-users.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves departmental system support issues.
  • Makes policy and procedure updates relating to process improvements.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal regulations.
  •  Manage any escalated problems that may arise while ensuring effective problem resolution.
