The Water Department’s Business Services Division is seeking to hire a IT Manager in its Water IT Section to coordinate data availability, security and compliance documentation/reporting, and process documentation for core Water Department systems.  The Water IT section supports core systems across the five Divisions of the Department which serves more than 1.2 million people in Fort Worth and surrounding areas.
Duties and responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining a current working knowledge and situational awareness of the Water Department’s core functions, activities, processes, and specialized systems
  • Working simultaneously on multiple complex technology projects
  • Recommending policies and procedures
  • Coordinating with outside vendors and consultants
  • Supervising staff
  • Interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Conducting performance evaluations
  • Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will be able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to both technical and non-technical audiences and have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a highly technical and dynamic 24/7 environment.
Preferred candidates will have supervisory level experience with:
  • Collaborative data availability across related data silos – Advanced Metering Infrastructure, Water Utility Billing, SCADA
  • Relational database and information system technologies
  • Project development and management
  • Budget, and purchasing procedures
Candidate should expect a regular work schedule of Monday through Friday and must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays without advance notice, as needed, to address the needs of the Water Department.
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the position may qualify.  A typical way to obtain the minimum requirements would be a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business or a related information technology field and five years of increasing responsible experience in communications, security and/or computer operations, including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
This position is required to be on-call as needed.
