Senior Project Manager, IT

Successful candidate will be responsible for leading IT projects including complex, multi-team projects that integrate data into the American Airlines Enterprise data warehouse utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies.   
This is an entry level Project Manager position and is best suited for some that has completed college and has been working as a developer, project manager, or scrum master for the last 1 to 3 years.  Your passion, communication skills, facilitation skills, and ability to work well with others are skills that will be assessed and critical to you being selected for this position.
  • Manages/oversees all aspects of assigned projects (including definition of project scope/vision, roadmap, status reporting, project development, and implementation)
  • Interfaces with project stakeholders at all levels of management to ensure project priorities are aligned with business needs and expectations 
  • Ensures that appropriate project documentation and deliverables are clearly defined and delivered
  • Facilitate / Manage project meetings (all Agile meetings – Iteration 0, Iteration Planning, Demo & Retrospective, Daily Stand-up, Backlog Grooming); completes project tracking/analysis reports
  • Tracks and updates project status in a proactive manner as it relates to project progress, budget/cost, issues, risks, and risk mitigation plans
  • Mentor / Coach Agile teams to ensure their adoption and successful use of Agile@American practices
Job Qualifications
  • 1+ years IT project management experience for both large and small projects is preferred
  • 1+ years leading projects utilizing Agile/Scrum Methodologies is highly desired
  • Prior data warehouse or application development experience is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, professional presentation skills, be team oriented, and a self-starter
  • Experience with Agile life cycle managements tools, such as Rally, is highly preferred
  • Certification in Project Management by a recognized project management organization (such as the Project Management Institute—PMI, or Certified Scrum Master) is a plus
  • Experience leading, coaching, and mentoring teams leveraging Agile methodologies with strong focus on continuous improvement  and developing self-organizing teams
  • Experience leveraging Agile / Scrum methods with both co-located and distributed teams is a preferred
  • Strong facilitation, collaboration, and negotiations skills required
  • SharePoint experience preferred for team collaboration
  • Airline/Travel industry experience is a plus
