We are looking for an energized leader to manage communications activities supporting the corporate and commercial side of our dynamic business which could include supporting communications in functions such as Network Planning, Alliances, Corporate Sales, Information Technology, Finance, Corporate Real Estate, Legal and more. We want a communicator who understands the nuances of varied business units and knows how to use our brand and our team members to tell the stories that connect external and internal audiences to the world’s largest airline.

The successful candidate will have a strong record of developing comprehensive communications strategies that engage customers and team members using clear storytelling to promote an international brand.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee strategies and tactics around various aspects of the company’s commercial endeavors, with focus on internal and external communications
  • Provide counsel and guidance on the company’s communications activities with department and company leadership in support of corporate objectives
  • Relationships matter –  must be able to develop and maintain good rapport with senior leaders and teammates within Corporate Communications and external bloggers, reporters and influencers
  • Must meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment without fail
  • Attend and engage in leadership meetings across the enterprise, including officer and senior leadership meetings
  • Manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines
  • Flexibility to work long and irregular hours to ensure deadlines are met
  • Develop consistent themes and a brand identity that is carried throughout all communications to all audiences
Job Qualifications
The successful candidate must be able to: effectively work with and counsel senior leadership to achieve their operational and organizational goals; possess excellent oral and written communication skills; develop and implement communication strategies and tactics with a diverse range of internal and external audiences. The candidate should also be results-oriented and able to work both independently and on a team when needed for larger communications initiatives and in crisis situations. A keen attention to detail and accuracy, while possessing the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment is essential. The successful candidate also must exercise sound business judgment and handle confidential information with sensitivity.  Prior experience working with multiple workgroups strongly desired.
  • 5 to 10 years of corporate communications, marketing or public relations agency experience
  • Deep knowledge of and/or experience in the commercial airline industry strongly preferred; Strong consideration given to candidates with airline-related experience as well as hospitality, travel or tourism
  • Prior experience supporting commercial business units
  • Results-oriented with the proven ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent problem-solving, written and oral communication skills and a keen attention to detail and accuracy, even while managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Previous experience leading and managing communications campaigns
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills and a solid understanding of how to write in AP style
  • A Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or equivalent work experience
