Manager I/II TS - SAP Development

  • Manage SAP Technical COE (Center of Excellence) and lead the SAP development team across all SAP Development categories including ABAP, HANA, PI/PO, Java, WebDynpro, and FIORI technologies.
  • Manages and tracks the progress of multiple development projects to include administration, work plans, resource planning and control, status reports, and budgeting. Conduct regular project reviews.
  • Work with functional and business process owners to inform them of the introduction of new services / development objects and any preparation activities necessary.
  • Engage with projects, in early phases, to ensure alignment with the overall release calendar and corresponding timeline & environment requirements.
  • Planning and overseeing the successful roll-out of new and changed software and associated hardware and documentation.
  • Prepare production deployment / cut-over plans for the technical deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate risks that would impact rollout.
  • Facilitate regular status meetings between all parties involved in the cutover activities (all systems).
  • Verify all transport packages to ensure zero impact to the system.
  • Establish meaningful goals and provide ongoing performance feedback against goals including coaching and mentoring to improve technical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Ensure adherence to architecture tenets, standards for application development, SOX controls, audit findings, policies and procedures.
  • Ensure issues are managed through incident management, change management and associated escalation processes.
  • Support the creation of the strategy and roadmap of SAP application architecture and maintain the technology architecture roadmap providing on-going design strategy for future enhancements based on current architecture. Develop and maintain SAP technical processes and procedures manual for BNSF.
  • Create and monitor performance goals and development plans. Develop teams across multiple disciplines while providing timely feedback. Mentor and establish rapport with all team members. Participate in the recruitment of new BNSF and SAP Support Center employees. Manage, hire and terminate contractor staff. Escalate issues as necessary to the Director.
  • Ensure high performance of the offshore teams by monitoring their deliverables and meet with the offshore teams for a minimum of twice a week. Create and track the deliverable metrics.
  • Create a factory model of delivering SAP technical objects by allowing team leads to work on various different modules and break down any silos within the delivery teams.
