Description: The Supervisor HIM is responsible for all processes relating to outpatient Emergency department charging/coding and clinic coding including, but not limited to, hiring, training, and evaluating charging and outpatient coding staff and monitoring the accuracy and timeliness of charging and coded medical records.
Qualifications:
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
  • Required Education and Experience:
     
  • Graduate of an American Health Information Management Association approved program with either an Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3 plus years recent outpatient coding experience in an acute care hospital.
  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
  • Must have or obtain Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials within six months of hire.
