Job Description
The IT Project Performance Team (PPT) is looking for an experienced leader to manage a team of Agile coaches who are responsible for driving the adoption and ongoing transformation of the Agile @ American framework across the enterprise. Key to the role is promoting principles of servant leadership, such as cultivating trust, developing others and valuing diverse opinions. This individual must be comfortable managing their team members and working at all levels (team, stakeholder and executive). Additionally, the position will collaborate with, influence and act as a key element in enterprise-wide adoption of Agile capabilities. The IT PPT Manager will serve as a change agent and assist in developing, promoting and executing the strategy for American Airlines’ Agile transformation.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees; maintaining a safe, secure and legal work environment; developing personal growth opportunities
  • Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; coaching and counseling employees; initiating, coordinating and enforcing systems, policies and procedures
  • Accountable for financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action
  • Maintains leadership and Agile knowledge by attending educational workshops and incorporating industry best practices
  • Effectively communicates with all levels of the organization
  • Identifies and recommends organizational changes required to establish high-performance Agile teams
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science, business administration or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years' demonstrated experience in leading people or Agile teams
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in leveraging Agile methods and mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and reprioritize quickly and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with business partners, technical teams and all levels of management
  • Excellent leadership skills, team-focused with high energy and a positive attitude
  • Outstanding collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and develop tactical methods to achieve objectives and goals
  • Agile certifications such as Certified Scrum Master, Certified Product Owner, Agile Certified Practitioner, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) a plus
  • Strong analytical & problem solving ability with excellent influencing, written & verbal communication skills
  • A passion for and extensive expertise in the use of Agile methodologies and tools, including large-scale adoption
